Lean on Him
Where do you put your hope? Where do you put your trust? Most of the time it’s on people or things that will all too often fail us and leave us feeling empty. This is part of human nature. We put our hope and trust in things that will never be able to fully complete us. People make mistakes, that is just an undeniable fact. So then we put our hope into things that make us feel good. The feeling doesn’t last. All of the things that we are blessed with have an alternate effect if we arn’t careful. For example, food can be so comforting. It has a way of filling one’s heart and bringing people together. On the other hand, we can go too far and try to always have that full heart feeling and over do it. It can turn into a negative effect on us. God did not mean for any of His blessings to be put above Him. That goes for anything. Including other people. People can only comfort each other to a certain point. They will absolutely never, ever, fill that gap that is meant for Jesus. I know what it is like to be in a room full of ‘friends’ and feel completely alone. It hurts. Sometimes that pain can drive you so far into loneliness that you go into a deep depression. Relying on people is dangerous. God gifted us with each other, but by no means did He intend for us to solely rely on anyone but Him. We are all going through this world for the first time. We are going to let each other down. We are going to fall short. We are going to make it. We will make it because Jesus has already overcome it for us. He is the only One that has never let us down. He has never LEFT us. How incredible that we have a Savior that came down to our level, became like us, suffered a horrific death, just to never leave us alone. That is amazing. I don’t know a single person that could endure what He did just so that we could experience the Creator’s Love in Heaven. This is real love. This is where our hope and trust should rest. This is where we should be leaning.
“No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I DO NOT GIVE AS THE WORLD GIVES. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
