Follow Your Heart
There are so many different ways that someone can interpret the Scriptures. Which way is right? Who is right? It can be so confusing sometimes. Trying to discern who is right, who has the answers, who may be wrong- it seems to never end. I’m here to give you a little insight that I have learned myself. If something, or someone brings you closer to God, and encourages a stronger, better and more connected relationship with God, that is what is to be followed. Ok, so let’s talk about that for a minute. There are a lot of religious people out there, they have a God complex, like, they know all the answers and apart from their interpretation and teaching- everything else is wrong. I call them modern-day Pharisees. Not one person that walks this Earth right now has all of the answers. And, I do not either. I have my experiences and understanding from what God has taught me for my walk with Him. I can also say, without a doubt, that no one has the same walk or journey with God as anyone else on earth. This is so important to understand. When you realize that everyone is made completely different, you will begin to see why they make certain choices. What is good for you may be awful for someone else. I’ll give you an example. I was watching someone explain doorways to the enemy and how to avoid it. A lot of it was informative, but then, there were things said that made no sense to me. The discussion of crystals came up. And this person literally said to destroy or get rid of any and all crystals in your home because they attract evil spirits. Um, what? I’m no scientist but I’m pretty sure God created crystals. If they were, in fact, created by God, how can they attract evil? I can tell you. Because everything that the Creator made, the enemy tries to pervert it. Nothing, not one thing that God made was made for evil. Intent is a big factor in good vs. evil. What is your intention behind your choice and/or action? This also goes back to your heart, how’s your heart looking? So, if that is the truth, then what is actually bad? The debate of yoga comes up quite often. And, honestly, I struggled with this for a little while. I was doing yoga for many months, and, I also watched videos on how to keep doorways to the enemy closed. These two things conflicted all the time. So, I listened to the religious banter and I stopped doing yoga. During the months that I did practice yoga, I was energetic, happy, stronger, all around feeling lighter. I felt like I could hear my spirit clearer and that my connection to God was strong. I did not practice yoga to idolize anyone or anything. I did not do it to learn another religion or disrespect God. I did it because I have anxiety and I tense up, which causes pain. But because I followed these certain people online that said it was ‘bad’, I stopped. And, I felt miserable. I didn’t want to upset God. Unfortunately what happens a lot in the churches or when someone feels that something is ‘bad’, they push their ideology down your throat. Guilt, shame, fear- all based off of something they believe. Guilt, shame and fear are from the enemy, not from God. If something brings you closer to God, how can it be bad? Religion puts people in a box, God wants you to be free. I am not here to promote anything. You need to find out for yourself, what brings you closer to God? Something that brings you closer to God, may not be something that works for me. And that is perfectly OK. We are all different. What is wrong is telling someone that the way the get closer to God is wrong because you don’t like it or understand it. That is being a Pharisee. That is the exact mentality that Jesus came to expose and set free. Don’t put chains on someone else like that. Everything around us is used as a tool, whether we use it for good or bad- that is our free will. Don’t judge the way someone else worships God. Obviously, as long as they aren’t sinning, leave them to be free to show their love to God the way they want to. You aren’t here to please anyone but God. “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10.
All you have to do, is seek God with your whole heart. That looks different for everyone. The way that you seek God may not suit my heart. And there is nothing wrong with seeking God differently than someone else. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13. We can learn from each other, but we are all different and don’t have to copy each other. Be who you have been created to be. Worship the way that fits your spirit. Follow your heart and seek God in whichever way brings you closer to Him and further from the enemy. The religious Pharisees were the ones who crucified Jesus- because He was different. He didn’t fit in to their religious box. He opened the eyes of people and set them free from the chains that the Pharisees put on them. He followed His heart. We are to walk in His footsteps. Do not let anyone put chains on you- especially when it comes to your personal relationship with God. Do what you are lead to do.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
