Running on Faith When Life is Leaving You Empty
Life can be draining. Some days it seems like staying in bed and hiding is the best decision. Just forgetting everything and getting away from the things that suck the life out of us. Everyone has felt this, and it’s ok. Life throws curve balls and sometimes we don’t catch them. Sometimes we get hit with them. We lose our temper, we get frustrated and say things we shouldn’t. There are days that we just want to quit because quitting seems so much easier. BUT, no one has ever succeeded and overcome anything by quitting. All these feelings and emotions are real, but that doesn’t mean what these emotions tell us in these moments are the truth. Sometimes these feelings lie to us. We feel tired and over worked and it’s in these moments we can make it or break it. These are the times where we can fall in to self pity and a “whoa is me” mentality or we can tell ourselves that this time won’t last forever and there are people that still need to see the Light. Satan is always trying to put out our light, frustrate us, make us mad and bring us down to his level. Once we accept Jesus, we are NOT on his level anymore. He is beneath us.
God knows what we go through and He sees our pain. He will never give us anything that we can’t handle. And I always wondered about this because sometimes I was right on the edge of giving up, and there He was, pulling me up. Faith is something that can’t be acknowledged by any of our senses. Faith is in our hearts. “We live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Life is wonderful. Yet, life can leave you exhausted, in pain, confused and lost. Faith gives you something to hope in. Faith never lets you down. The more time that is put into faith, the stronger you will be. Life can thrown curve balls at us and we can catch them.
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14 Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Focusing on others around us takes our focus off of ourselves. Looking to be kind or to do something for someone else keeps us away from a self pity mind set.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vein conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4
Faith can not be taken from us. We can have much or as little faith as we allow ourselves. We can grow our faith, or we can stop it. Faith will keep us going when satan tries to stop us. Faith can keep us whole with God and give us the hope we need to get through another day, even when it feels impossible.
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12
When life makes you feel empty, run on faith and it will fill you up.
