Stay the Course
This world can be difficult some days. A complete challenge to get through. Each and every day we have obstacles that are thrown on our path that attempt to push us off. Depending on the strength we contain that day, we may indeed, get knocked off. Some days, we get lazy and go off course. Some days we decide we’re tired and just give in. And some days we get side swiped. Emotions can derail us quicker than just about anything else. If we get mad at God, this can almost instantly lead us off of our path. We need to remember that God doesn’t hurt us, the enemy does. Other people that are hurting and fall off of their own path hurt us. We hurt each other. And we hurt ourselves. Keeping our eyes focused on God can keep our steps towards Him straight. (“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” Colossians 3:2) There are days where the enemy comes at us so hard and pushes us off our path. He blindsides us when we least expect it. This is why we are to put on the full armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18) Even then, we tend to let our guards down at times. When you feel as though you’ve been pushed off of your path, or lead astray, or even willingly walked off because you felt overwhelmed, remember: God is waiting for you to see Him again. No matter where you fell off on your path. No matter how foggy it may be ahead. No matter what– God is standing on your path waiting for you to see Him again. You are never too far off of the path to be unable to see God’s light reaching out to rescue you. He is there to pick you up, brush you off, and walk with you again. He’s there to rescue you. Jesus is the bridge between your darkness and God’s light. Nothing can or will ever change that.
At times, this journey can feel lonely. In this world, you may feel out of place. We feel this way because we are not of this world. This world is not our home. If we were meant to feel a part of this world, we wouldn’t be a part of God’s Kingdom. (“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:19) The world has a different way that it operates opposed to God. Sometimes this can cause us to be lead to want to fit in and go off course. It is normal to want to be a part of something or belong to a group of other people. God has His children everywhere in order to shine His light throughout the world. We aren’t always placed together. Some days, we long to go home or be around people who fill our spirit. We get tired. The rules of the world are not the same rules that God has. God’s rules do not consist of dragging someone else down in order to get ahead. His rules tell us to put others above ourselves- even if they hurt you. His rules tell us to consider others better than ourselves. (Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2) His rule is the rule of unconditional love. Be above the worldly rules. When we put God first and love others unconditionally, He always gives us who or what we need in the right moment. Will we feel lonely at times? Yes. Will we trip ourselves and fall? Yes. Will we get tired and lay down when we shouldn’t- yes. Will we be side swiped by the enemy because we aren’t prepared for his tricks- of course. We are human and for every time we go off course or fall down, God gives us the help we need to get back up. And the more times we get back up, the more times we drag ourselves up and keep going, the stronger and more experienced we become. We The more we become aware to the enemy’s schemes and are able to combat them easier.
Our paths are all different. Not one person goes through the exact same walk as someone else. Some people are further ahead, some are just starting and some fall more than others. Instead of looking at the way someone else’s path looks, pick up the lessons you’ve gained along yours so that if you cross paths with someone that is in need, you have wisdom to share with them. (“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:4) There’s no need to judge. We need to encourage each other through this walk. Hold the light up for someone who’s path got dark so they can see their way ahead. We may be on a separate path than everyone else but that doesn’t mean they don’t cross. Our paths cross over other’s every day. We need to recognize why we may be meeting this person and see how we can walk next to them. Not to judge, to love and support. (“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11) We are all on the journey back home. Instead of pushing our way through each other, let’s hold each other up by encouraging on another and picking each other up when we fall. Keep your eyes focused on God and He will never let you go. Hold tight to His love and you will always find peace on your walk.
