Who Are You?
Who are you? Who am I? Who are any of us, really?
This is a question that can destroy us. We will never know who we are if we don’t know who God is. Knowing of God and knowing God are two completely different things. Getting deep into our purpose through God’s Word can really show us why we’re here.
We are not of this world. This world lies, steals and hurts. We are of God. God is loving, kind, peaceful, gentle and full of compassion. If we compare ourselves to the world, we will never measure up to its standards. The world’s standards are not realistic. We often live our lives by what we see and how we feel. God did not intend us to lose sight of His love for us. Our purpose gets clouded and the truth gets drown out by everything that is going on around us.
But God knows this. He is waiting for us to stop looking around at the billboards, the tv shows, the magazines, and look up at Him. He makes everything clear. The world fogs us. We follow empty promises and false advertising until we get so far off track that we no longer know where we are. We get lost. Our identity has been stolen. Or, we gave it away to fit in.
Jesus did not come here to fit in. He came here to see who will fit in with Him in Heaven. And what’s awesome is that we all can. There are no cliques in Heaven. There are no bullies, no clubs, no one is left out. In Heaven, everyone is family. So, as the Lord’s Prayer says in Matthew 6:10…”your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven..” why not be a family on earth? Why evaluate people by how they look or what kind of car they drive or how much money they have when we can see each other how God sees us: priceless, irreplaceable, unique, beautiful…the list never ends.
God wants us to find our identity in Him. Our value through Jesus. The world will be gone one day. God will always be there. If we put our trust and value in the world, it will be gone, and so will we.
If we put our value in God, we will never fade, and we will always have purpose. God will put us back together after the world has failed us. He will never leave us.
So, who are you?
You are a child of God. Made for a purpose. With love, from God.
”The world and it’s desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17
“And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:30-31
”Be kind and compassionate towards one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
”If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:18-19 (Jesus’ words)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8: 28
Nothing can separate us from His love.
